Quick facts
- Format
- CSV spreadsheet template
- Format
- CSV you can import into a spreadsheet app
- Best for
- A small, deliberate list of applications and next steps
How to use this resource
- Download the CSV and import it into your preferred spreadsheet app, keeping the first row as column headings.
- Replace the example row, then add one row per application or opportunity.
- Use the next-action and follow-up-date fields for a concrete task, not an assumption about an employer's timeline.
Keep a record that helps you decide what to do next
A job search can become harder to manage when a submitted application, a networking conversation, and a role you still need to research all live in different places. This tracker gives each item one row so you can see the next useful action without treating silence as a verdict.
The included example is intentionally plain. Edit, delete, or add columns to suit your process; do not put sensitive documents, passwords, or confidential notes in a file you may later share.
What each field is for
| Field | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Company and role | Identify the opportunity in words you will recognize later. |
| Stage | Use a factual label such as draft, submitted, interview, or closed. |
| Next action | Write one task you control, such as tailoring a resume or reviewing a role. |
| Follow-up date | A reminder you chose after checking the employer's instructions. |
A useful next-action note
- Instead of “wait for update,” write “review the posting and save two questions for a possible interview.”
- Instead of “contact recruiter,” write “check whether the posting names a contact and follow the stated process.”
